What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing is a body-focused method for renegotiating trauma and healing stress disorders. It was developed by Dr. Peter A. Levine as way of addressing the ways that a person can get "stuck" in nervous system patterns such as flight, fight or freeze responses due to an inability to find resolution with an event, or to complete an incomplete action.
Somatic Experiencing gently works through acute stress reactions ranging from surgery or other medical procedures, accidents, attacks, emotional/physical/sexual abuse, birth trauma or other impactful life events, to unravel patterns (anxiety, insomnia, digestive issues, social issues and other physiological symptoms of stress and shock) that are locked in the nervous system by those stressors.
Somatic Experiencing work is slow and gentle and works to create a more stable and resilient nervous system.
What Can I Expect From SE?
Sessions are between 60-90 minutes each. The first session begins with a short assessment and an explanation of how SE works. Wearing comfortable clothing that you can move around in is recommended. Somatic Experiencing sessions can include sitting and tracking sensation, may involve movement, and in some instances touch where it is deemed appropriate (with the client's permission).

Lindsay is currently booking clients for SE Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am-3pm, Wednesdays 5pm-9pm , Fridays 10am-2pm and Saturdays/Sundays from 10am-5pm.
